Children with fine-motor difficulties, limited hand strength, or challenges with grasping and coordination may need assistance turning the thick pages of a board book. When a child cannot interact with a book independently, it can affect how fully they participate in storytime and other early learning experiences.

What does reading inclusivity mean?

Reading inclusivity means recognizing that children engage with books in different ways—and ensuring they have the support they need to participate.
